Meet Angus Copelin-Walters

Angus Copelin-Walters is a 14-year-old entrepreneur, philanthropist, speaker, and the Australian Young Ambassador for the global charity Made by Dyslexia. Despite his young age, Angus has already made a significant impact through his business, Croc Candy, which he founded at just seven years old. His journey has been one of overcoming challenges, especially after being diagnosed with dyslexia, and using his experiences to inspire others.

From a holiday project to a business with purpose

Croc Candy started as a simple school holiday project. Angus, then only seven, wanted to set up a pretend market stall selling lollies. With a second-hand table and a recycled cardboard stand, he took his idea to a kid’s 'Buy Swap and Sell' event. What began as a fun activity quickly turned into a passion-driven venture. After being diagnosed with dyslexia, Angus found that his business was not only a way to support charities but also a means to empower himself, turning his challenges into strengths.

Over the years, Angus has earned recognition from some of the world’s most influential figures. He has met with Sir Richard Branson, who has become both a mentor and an inspiration. In a recent meeting during the launch of Virgin Voyages in Australia, Angus surprised Sir Richard with artisan lollipops branded for the event, a product born from the advice Sir Richard gave him: to try new things, create something exciting, and always give back. Their relationship started with a virtual meeting in 2021, where they discussed business ideas and strategies, and has since flourished into a mentorship that continues to guide Angus.

Achievements beyond his years

Angus’ entrepreneurial journey is marked by numerous accolades and heartfelt achievements. He has met Scott Morrison, the 30th Australian Prime Minister, received a letter of recognition from the Late Queen Elizabeth II, and won several awards for his contributions to both business and charity. Angus' mission has always been to give back. Through Croc Candy, he has raised funds for various causes, supporting charities such as Made by Dyslexia, Dolly’s Dream, Camp Quality, and many others. His efforts have not only impacted people but also contributed to wildlife conservation during times of crisis, such as bushfires.

A vision for the future

Angus continues to expand his influence and inspire others. In 2025, he will release his first children’s picture book titled Croc Candy, written by Claire Thompson and published by Woodslane Press. The book tells the story of his journey with dyslexia, portraying it as a superpower that fuels his entrepreneurial spirit. Angus hopes that his story will inspire other children to embrace their challenges and see them as opportunities for growth and success.
